Kevin Burnette (NZ)

The Nationals Working Party is excited to announce KEVIN BURNETTE will be joining us! He will be a very busy man, judging ALL SIX days of the event. Please welcome him on board our judging panel!

Some words from Kevin:

Well, what can I say?  A huge thanks for the invite to judge, and an even bigger thanks to the committee for sticking at it for the last three years to make it finally happen!
I have been looking forward to this for such a long time, the ANKC National Agility Trial 2020 – which we all know has now turned into 2023!

Over 20 years ago I was accompanying my wife Bronwen to shows when she was competing in obedience with our first dog, a Dalmatian.  Then Bronwen moved into agility and I thought maybe this is something I could do too.  Not long after I got my own NZ Heading Dog and haven’t looked back since.

We currently have seven Border Collies – a couple retired, four competing plus a young’n almost ready to start in the ring.

I love all things agility, be it competing, judging or instructing.  I get a buzz from the pressure a big show creates – I have borrowed dogs for a couple of World Champs, but also had a blast running my own dog Biz at your Aussie Nationals in 2018.

I began judging in 2013 and have judged at a few NZ Agility Nationals: 2016, 2017 & 2022.  It is thrilling to watch the best of the best all competing on the same courses –  I’m sure I will get that same thrill here.

I like to set courses that provide options, allowing for flow and skill to merge into awesome teamwork – the best possible outcome for me is to see both handler and dog have fun.

I have heard great things about the venue, and I will be sure to put down some great courses for you to enjoy so you and your dog can wow me.

Good luck everyone and above all – have fun!
